  • What is eFuneral and why should I use it?

    eFuneral is the best service for your funeral planning and purchasing needs. We’re a comprehensive, transparent and completely online resource for funeral planning and purchasing. We’re not a funeral services provider, and we’re not selling anything. eFuneral is your unbiased connection to funeral services providers in your area so you and your loved ones are empowered with a fully planned and paid funeral.

  • Does eFuneral help with imminent funeral services or just advance planning?

    eFuneral serves both customers who are planning an imminent service or are making advance plans. We connect you to funeral services providers who are equipped to serve you immediately or in many years.

  • I’m with a funeral home. How do we become an eFuneral Partner provider?

    eFuneral is always excited to connect with prospective Partner providers. Please contact us at provider@efuneral.com for more information.

  • Does eFuneral charge any fees?

    No, we do not assess any fees for using our service, including online payments made through eFuneral to Premium providers.

Choosing a Provider

  • Does it matter which provider I choose?

    You should thoroughly research providers in your area to ensure you select the best fit for your needs. eFuneral allows you to easily compare providers’ offerings and costs to find the right fit.

  • Which funeral service providers can I access via eFuneral?

    eFuneral provides access to more than 20,000 funeral service providers nationwide. We are proud to offer direct online payment capabilities with select eFuneral Premium providers. 

  • Why are some providers marked as eFuneral Partners?

    eFuneral Partner providers are funeral service providers with which you can connect directly to prearrange. We are working with each Partner provider to deliver full online payment capabilities soon. 

  • Why are some providers marked as eFuneral Premium?

    eFuneral Premium providers are Partner providers with which we offer direct, online purchase capability. This means you can complete the entire process, including paying for the funeral, online.

  • Is there a benefit to selecting an eFuneral Premium provider?

    The benefit is the ability to complete your payment online. Otherwise, eFuneral simply acts as the guide to your plans and the connection between you and the provider of your choice.

Prepaying for a Funeral

  • Do I have to prepay?

    Not necessarily. You may use eFuneral simply to prepare a plan and select a provider and pass that information along to your loved ones. However, we recommend prepayment as the final step in ensuring your loved ones will have clarity about your funeral plans after you pass on.

  • What if I change my mind or need to change providers?

    One of the biggest advantages of prepaying through eFuneral is our extensive provider network. If you need to change your selected funeral services provider, send us a note at help@efuneral.com and we will help you find another provider. Since you own the life insurance policy, there is no cost to moving the service.

    If you have prepaid and change your mind all together, let us know within 30 days and we will cancel and fully refund your policy.

  • Where does my money go when I prepay for my funeral with eFuneral?

    When you prepay for your funeral with a Partner provider through eFuneral, your payment is secured through a specialized life insurance policy designed specifically for your funeral needs. This policy is held by Homesteaders Life Company, a mutual insurance company. Homesteaders provides funeral funding for families who demand and deserve long-term security for their funded advance funeral plans.

  • I’ve prepaid for my funeral service. If funeral costs rise before I pass away, will my loved ones have to pay the difference?

    No. Your selected services are confirmed at the price you paid. Prepaying helps offset rising costs and inflation.

  • Are there financial benefits to prepaying for my funeral?

    There are. By prepaying for your funeral with an eFuneral Partner, you enjoy the benefit of a guaranteed funeral.

  • What is a “guaranteed funeral?”

    When a prepaid funeral is "guaranteed," it means that the funeral provider accepts your payment now as payment in full for the goods and services they will provide in the future. This means your loved ones or your estate will not have to pay additional funds.

Security & Privacy

  • Is my payment information secure?

    We have partnered with the leading payment gateway to provide secure payment services. They have been audited by a PCI-certified auditor and are cerified to PCI Service Provider Level 1. This is the most stringent level of certification in the payments industry.

  • Is my data secure?

    Your information is stored securely by eFuneral. We use TLS 1.2 encryption to maintain your information and we never sell your information to third parties.
